Hi all

Had first RT today and when I got home neck was really painful.  Right where my lymph nodes are enlarged.  Couple of paracetamol and it’s calmed down now but it went well.

Have first of 2 chemos tomorrow and then having peg fitted on Wednesday and to top it all found out my liver is on the opposite side to where it should be, never been told that before that I can remember.

  • The first one is probably the most difficult as you have to face the unknown.  Now you are past that you can concentrate of how it is really affecting you as you get more into treatment.  Don't forget to tell your RT team about every little change as they will help you manage the side effects.  It is probably too early for any effect from the RT on your cancer - it is a cumulative effect that builds - maybe the soreness is from the close fitting of the mask?  Anyway glad it has settled down now you are home.

Good luck with the chemo tomorrow and I hope the PEG fitting goes as smoothly as mine did.

  • Hi Lee. Just a tip on chemo day depending when your radiotherapy slots into your day. your mask may feel tighter. That’s due to the amount of saline that’s infused into our system prior and post chemo. It soon settles down. Re the meds you’re given tj take after chemo my advise is take them even if you  don’t felt nauseous. I had no issues at all with chemo. If you do feel nauseous and the anti sickness aren’t working tell them there’s lots of alternative s they can give you.

  • OMG had peg fitted today and I’m suffering with it tonight.  Feels like someone has punched me in stomach with something sharpe.  Just went up to bed and that’s a no no so back down on recliner which is helping.

I think there still might be some trapped gas still but who knows.  Didn’t get any drugs to being home just told to take paracetamol.

if like this tomorrow will asking for something, any suggestions please

  • Hi I didn’t have a peg but others have said buscopan helps with trapped wind. Others say it’s takes a few days to settle down. I had a ng tube which went in via my nose and into tummy. Remember they can be our lifesavers when we need them they are invaluable. Hooe yiu soon settle down pain wise.
Hopefully  others will, pop on who has the tummy peg fitted.
