Hi everyone

Does anyone know if it’s ok to take collagen supplements post treatment? I’m 3 years & some months post & have a lot of joint pain/arthritic pain which paracetamol/ibuprofen does not really touch. I’ve read that collagen supplements may help & just seeing if there’s any advice out there.
Thanks

  • Hi,

This far out of treatment I'm sure you're OK but just message your CNS to check for you

Do tell us what they say, other folk might well be interested.

  • I messaged the Ask a nurse a question page on this site but the response was basically a Don’t Know. I’ve never had a CNS so don’t have that route to go down.

So when is your next review? Ask then?

Maybe message your consultant’s secretary, then. Who would you contact if you needed to be seen urgently? I know you say you never had a nurse to contact but there must be somebody

  • Hi Blod. I have been taking turmeric capsules and fish oil for mild joint pain not bad pain like arthritis though. I didn't even think about asking my doctor about it. I am now 3 years out of treatment. I know you can't take fish oil if you are on certain medications but I am only on Thyroxine. I must check with my G.P. next time I see her. However I am fairly confident that there will be no issues.

Maybe you could get a referral to a rheumatologist as they will be able to give you advice on the best treatment.

in a week time i am going to see my oncologist and will ask, but i am sure he will not tell me different.

  • Hi Lyn - you might want to check the iodine level in your fish oil capsules if you are on thyroxine or just ask your practice nurse/ GP.  Liz x

  • Hi Liz Thanks for the feedback. I have an appointment with my GP next week so will ask her about the fish oil capsules.
