After radiotherapy and chemo treatment

Hopefully you are past the worst of the post treatment cycle.  I had my PEG in until I had my clear PET scan at around 12 weeks, but by then I was not using it to feed or hydrate.  It was probably around the 6 week mark before I managed to take some soup and gradually built up from there.  I think we all have to experiment with food to see what works - and what works this week may not next week.  Things do change over time.  Little and often is a good maxim for when you do start back on oral intake.

If you have lymphedema then ask for a referral to your hospital's specialist nurse.  I only needed one session to learn how to self manage and what compression garments etc are helpful.  Someone may be able to help, but I have never heard of leakage from lymphedema.  In the meantime if you look at my profile there is a link to YouTube with a video for self massage as recommended by my hospital.

Hi Peter thankyou for replying..:) the sides of my jaw and under my chin swell up and the pain was really bad then I thought my face was going to explode my chin was rock hard red and even tender toouch...I just woke one morning and there was a horrible leak almost as if part of my skin burst the oncologist was not bothered by it .he just said odema so I reckon thats lymphodema he means ..ive telephone appointment on the 4th Nov if no improvement I will ask him to refer me to someone...I am so looking forward to to eating properly again but ive been told to wait till I see the speech andherapy team in 3 weeks...this just seems neverending. :(  I will have a look at your you tube and thankyou again:)
