Hi Scamp, well join our small club of Laryngectomees, I’m afraid you will have a lot to get used to in the beginning and it’s such a big change to your life and lifestyle, you will most likely be offered Radiotherapy after the operation which I beg you to write down all your questions you have about follow up treatment and any other concerns you have, if you have someone to go along with you then take them and take notes because the minute you come out of the consultation room you will have forgotten half of what they said.
The people to fall back on now and who are most likely going to be your lifelong companions is the Speech Therapists they will guide and help you all the way from now on no matter what your problem is
Feel free to make contact again with any specific problem that we can help you with either on here or a private message, there are a couple of other Laryngectomees on the forum the following are also good sources :
Swallows are a great source for help with Head and Neck

Hi there Scamp and a warm welcome to the group.
My OH had a full laryngectomy, along with bilateral neck dissections and other procedures, last December. Sorry to hear you're having difficulties right now, but it's very early days so hold in there.
If there's anything I could help you with, I'd be more than happy to do so. Sending you my very best wishes xxx
Many thanks for your reply no nothing at moment but thanks for asking
