Hi all, so mum is having her feeding tube fitted today (as an outpatient as they warned she could be in hospital for over a week if she was admitted) She has got to nearly the end of week 6 but cannot tolerate any fortisips and is feeling very week from lack of nutrition.
She is petrified because she keeps being sick with all the phlegm created by the RT and is so worried that it will keep displacing the tube. Does anyone have any experience of this ? We will of course discuss it with the team today but I’d like to be able to reassure her….Thanks
Hi Kate. All I can say is that I had two NG tubes and vomited them both up but they did stay in for weeks before I did.
Ask your mums team about a better antiemetic. It may be that she is so nauseous because she is dehydrated and unwell.
