Hi Everyone,

Been a while since I've posted but had a few issues in the family.

Anyway I'm nearly 9 months post treatment and I thought I was doing pretty well ,but I think I jumped the gun ,I've been suffering really bad hayfever which makes my throat drier than the new norm ,I can't take the anti histamines as these make the dryness worse. I've been trying lots of different foods ,some good some really bad. But last night we went for an Indian meal, I had a chicken sizzler not too spicy I thought , at the time my mouth and throat was tolerating it ,but woke up this morning and a different story all together!! My throat on the side which had most treatment is quite tender ,and my tongue at back is sore also .do you think I may have over done it? Is it time to keep on basic foods again?

Thanks in advance Mark

  • Hey Mark. Good to hear from you.
Yes I reckon hay fever sensitised mucous membrane just can’t cope with hot spice. Just avoid curries for a while? Is there no antihistamine that doesn’t dry you out. Would your GO refer you for desensitising immunotherapy?

  • Hi Dani ,good to hear from you ,did nt realise there was a desensitizing therapy ? I've just finished a course of acupuncture to try and stimulate what saliva glands I have left ,I think it may have worked a little but who knows it could be just recovery! Anyway going to stay off spicy for a while. My CNS said it won't harm you to try spicy ,but just know your limits .
