Mouth pain

Sorry to bother you all again so quickly but is mouth pain normal one month on from surgery?
my husband reported some mouth pain near his gumline and when I looked it’s right on the sutre line. It’s tucked up under his top lip. The sutre line looks a bit pink, but I’m wondering if it’s food related and something has irritated. He says it does feel like inflammation. I’ve had him do a mouth clean and take two paracetamol. It’s probably nothing but as you will all appreciate, anything mouth related is making me immediately freak out.
can recurrence happen so fast?

  • Hi Gill. Thanks for the kind words. It is amazing what inner resources you find when you are faced with a cancer diagnosis and I was not ready to give up on life. My life now has a new normal that is working quite well for me albeit a few challenges but that's life isn't it. Everyone on this forum is in the same situation and rise to meet their difficult challenges. I love this forum it is such a place of positivity.

No you didn't wake me up, I'm up at my normal ungodly hour of 6.00 in the morning and looking forward to what the day will bring.

    Sending best wishes

  • Hi again Lyn.

Yep, you're spot on about how the will to live can transcend the unthinkable.  I've been witnessing that at close quarters for several months now, courtesy of my fella.

Like yourself, our lives can't be the same as before and many things are irretrievable; but we're going to make the best of everything and not sink into a pit of doom.  He reached a real low spot recently and I told him about some of the incredible people's experiences on the forums, yours included.  I think he was a bit flabbergasted tbh, and realised he wasn't alone and that others had gone through, and others still going through, awful times.

I wasn't confident he'd want to read the profiles but he has looked at some, and I can see he's starting to change.  It certainly opened my eyes since I became a member and my attitude's changed for the better, too.  You're all doing a wonderful job!

Paula, as a fellow carer  you've definitely come to the right place and all good luck to you and your husband.

    Sending hugs to all.

    Gill xx
