My radiation was in June although I feel better, I just don’t feel that I am better yet. I feel like there are something wrong because I just don’t feel great. I think I need more time

  • We do have lingering issues that can drag us down, fatigue, aches and pains, sore tongue and throat etc., speak to your Macmillan nurse?

  • Hi. I liken recovery to it’s a marathon not a sprint. Listen to your body I found a gentle exercise helped ease  the fatigue. Make sure you’re getting g enough calories by a year I could eat more than I usually would and didn’t start to put weight on until I got to 15 month post treatment.
I would  add have your thyroid bloods  tested as we are prone to hypothyroidism   I have mine tested annually and would recommend everyone whose had hnc radiotherapy to do so. My oncologist wrote to my g p advising this.

  • yeah, recovery can take a while.. the treatment takes a lot more out of us than we realise.. I'm over a year post treatment and still get hit with fatigue.. it's getting better, but it still hits me.. unfortunately recovery can be a slow process.. don't beat yourself up over it..
