Bye bye tonsils

morning, not been here for a while, was keeping myself offline & busy, just thought I’d say a quick goodbye to my tonsils which are going off for biopsy, results in a month due to backlogs … dreading the next couple of weeks but I certainly won’t miss this thing in my throat… MRI was clear fingers crossed for this.. Anyway sitting in my gown with some lovely stockings & slippers waiting to go into a deep sleep followed by some chocolate mousse… take care all

  • All the best.  The chances are the biopsy will feel like a full tonsillectomy.  Keep up on the pain killers despite the fact the pain will initially diminish - it will come back with a vengeance.  All will be better by 10-12 days!  Hold onto that fact.

  • yeah just had that conversation with my partner, theres no way this is doing the job i'm struggling alread, not sure why they gave me this in the first place, but hey ho i'll get stronger tomorrow

  • Must say anyone having a tonsillectomy id push for decent painkillers before leaving the hospital, small dose cocodomol 8mg do very little, I’ve not even slept the pain is pretty severe, swallowing even water is really hard & painful..

  • I found Tramadol effective and combine that with Paracetamol around 30 minutes before you want to eat and it is a little easier.

It gets remarkably easier once the scabs come off around 10 days time...  Alas much of this is head down and work through the pain knowing it will be gone soon.  I've never had pain like it even when I broke my leg.

DO NOT take Paracetamol on top of the co-codamol!

  • I mainly had yogurt after tonsillectomy.  It was much more of a challenge than I'd expected (despite being warned, repeatedly by my doctors!). I had dissolvable paracetamol which helped and was easier to get down! The good news is that it will get better soon...
