Me again,
This past week my throat and Tongue have been much drier, to the point my tongue can feel sore specially on the treatment side. I'm into my 16th week post treatment. I was putting it down to my hayfever ,which I'm taking AH for now ,but not so sure if it is still part of my throat and tongue recovering. I'm also trying lots of different foods at moment ,trial and error ,could that be causing this also?
Cheers any advice appreciated
Mark
Hu Mark yes trying different food can cause dry tongue and dry throat mouth is a common side effect I had burning tongue syndrome I kept a food diary and found cheese dairy anything sauces vinegar or citrus plus yoghurt apart from thick Greek yoghurt set me off. Dry mouth and throat is a long lasting side effect i am approaching 7 years and still have that at night. During day I manage with sugar free gum to stimulate my saliva glands. A spray bottle of water helps during the day try that. Plus yiu need to be drinking sufficient water around 2-3 litres a day.i Also had auricular acupuncture private key which helped
Have you been checked for oral thrush try to limit sugary food drinks to part of a meal as well .its all a learning curve plus anti histamines as Dani says can cause dry mouth alongside tea and coffee plus any alcohol if you’re trying that also has a drying effect

Hi Mark
Antihistamines reduce the production of saliva so are making your mouth even drier

Haven't been checked for oral thrush , no alcohol at moment too much sting!
What are signs of oral thrush?
Thanks Mark
I had white patches on tongue and inside cheeks sore and dry painful as well. I know someone who had green patched in mouth as well. If oral thrush it thrives in our mouths you’ll need a course if Flucozonole nit nystain which most gps prescribe as it’s cheaper it doesn’t work well against our tyoe if oral thrush. Yes Spassky I rarely drink onky a sip as it still, stings and burns me I’m the odd ball with that most can manage a beer.

Hi Mark
I find that my dryness comes and goes. Taking AH last year did not seem to make any difference to the dryness, but I know things like red wine and tea can cause significant dryness from the tannin. You will learn coping strategies over time - I find sparkling water is good as is chewing gum (16 weeks may be a little early for gum). Biotine works for me at night and very occasionally during the day. Probably the experimentation with foods may be the cause, but to get better you do need to experiment and learn what works and does not work. Alas it is trial end error.
