Hi everyone.
Just wondering if anyone post treatment has got lower white blood cell count.
Seems since treatment 2 years ago hubby's cell count has remained low. He's really well, no infections, weight loss or night sweats.
I am rightly or wrongly assuming the immune system has taken a big hit here with damage to bone marrow and therefore can cause this lower levels. Not that we know the cell count pre cancer.
Looking into probably getting an MRI scan for reassurance and such supplements as Folic acid and Vit B12.
Just curious and thought someone else may have had this.

Hi Gail
I think the best thing would be to query this with your husband's oncologist and ask her/him to arrange for further blood tests. He/she might have also a straight forward answer looking at your husband's last blood tests. They tend to not look at one thing only and they have a better overall picture when they see the rest of the tests. We are all so different in the way we react to the treatment.
Best wishes.

Hi Gail I had larynx cancer five years ago and had a laryngectomy and stomach pull up but my white blood cells went up with no symptoms I’m wondering if it just part of of being a cancer patient so I wouldn’t worry too much but it does keep the haematologist busy he’s been sticking needles in me for four years and found nothing wrong so good luck and hope you guys get the same results
