Hi everyone not been n here for a while, I’m just waiting still after two years to get my implants and reconstruction after my surgery for jaw. Cancer, I still have my peg in my tummy can not eat pureedp food and fresibin protein drinks through peg,but I’m doing ok,
i had a lot f pain in my surgery site so surgeon and Norfolk and Norwich hospital X-rays the area apparently my joint n my jaw are worn right side and left side was shaved down for the metal plate which was taken out after three days as my body rejected it so I’m assuming that’s what causes the aching, however my mouth swells on left side a lot inside and I find it hard to talk some days, no idea what’s causing it but I ave told dental surgeon, he seems less interested in that but it’s very uncomfortable. I keep my face covered in the cold weather and mouth with a pull n hat much like the old balaclava, any ideas what it could be or has anyone had this ?
Lvely to chat to you all again love tia x

Hi Tiadora. Sorry to hear that you are having difficulties still after your surgery. It sounds quite distressing. I had jaw cancer too but am not experiencing the issues you have. I have had 2 maxillectomies and a mandibulectomy over time but all is going well with them. Also have had 4 implants put into my cheekbones which a titanium bracket attaches to that my upper denture attaches to. I had a high chance of failure for an upper jaw reconstruction so did not have this but it worked out fine with the implants into my cheek bones.
I would go back to my consultant to discuss the issues you are having as they sound quite complex. Hopefully they should be able to shed some light on things. I do hope things can get sorted out for you soon.
