Low WBC

I wonder how long it takes for wbc to get higher. My husband’s treatments ended about a year ago, now he’s on keytruda, immunotherapy. The number is only 3.0 maybe it takes a long time to go higher.  If we go somewhere I’m afraid he’ll catch something as winter is the worse time.

    Its a potential side effect of pembro I understand  

    It’s a question for his team. Phone his CNS?  There are drugs to raise haematopoesis ( making blood cells) Maybe he is a candidate? 

    I presume he is eating well and getting his vitamin supplements?

  • Yes eating well along with nutritional drinks and multivitamins. The dr didn’t seem too concerned, said it takes time to go back up, his other numbers were good.

  • Ok. The lowest safe level is 4 so do ask if you can risk going away and mixing with other people.
