Unable to sneeze through my nose

Hi to all,

Over the last couple of months (13 months post partial-mandibulectomy and neck dissection) I have realised I can no longer sneeze through my nose. This seems bizarre to me and weird sneezing via my mouth. Has this happened to anyone else and why would this happen? I will let my doctor know on February 20th at my next review and see what he has to say as surely it must be related. So strange.

Thanks,

Carolyn x

  • Crikey Carolyn. That's weird. Do you mean when you shut your mouth to stifle a sneeze and you get a mini one through your nose?

  • Hi Dani, no, not at all. Just sneeze with my mouth open, no feeling or anything in my nose at all. It's just bypassed completely.

  • If it’s new and you can’t breathe through your nose I would mention it at your next review. Otherwise consider yourself weird… especially as you’ve had an NED so recently.

  • Haha, I'm definitely weird! Breathing is fine , just can't sneeze through the nose anymore.

  • Hi, I am the same, started a few years ago, nothing on Dr Google, it’s really weird isn’t it ? Not had any serious illnesses, just don’t sneeze from my nose anymore ! X

  • Hi Sarah, yes, it's very weird and I'm still doing it. Doctor said no explanation for it either so it carries on. Wish it wasn't like this though as I dread sneezing. Take care and thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one! X
