Hi,
Had biopsies done under general two weeks ago after having hot spot on post treatment scan.Got letter this morning saying no evidence of disease.Very florid post-radiotherapy response and alot of scar tissue. My sister says she's never seen anyone receive really good news and look so miserable ! It's been a long haul and I really feel this diagnosis and the gruelling treatment has changed me.I wanted to share my news so that anybody else that's going through hot spot queries knows it can be ok and there can be other reasons why they are showing up.Getting ultrasound next week on neck to check all lymph nodes.Fingers crossed that will be ok.Think the surgeon must have had a real good poke/scrape about as my throat is back to radiation pain level and only eating soaked cereal two weeks on.Going to GP this pm to try and see if there is anything I could take to help heal the throat .Does anyone have any thing to suggest here ? Using diluted Difflam three times a day ,liquid paracetamol and oromorph but nothing really helping.

Hi Turi. That’s fab news I’m really pleased for you it’s been a long haul for you. Re throat pain have you tried good old fashioned salt water rinses with baking powder added if yiu can manage the salt water. It won’t be forever hopefully now you’ve got the no evidence of disease confirmation your mind and body will settle down and you’ll find you’re new yiu reslky soon
sending big hugs ps keep siping the ensures
calories will help build you back up

That made me smile. That is exactly what I did. I was convinced I was on the palliative road. And yes. I was upset that even though I had really looked after myself the pain was just as bad as ever after the surgeon had finished lining about.

I'd totally agree with the salt & bicarb solution. Works really well at keeping things at bay and promoting healing.
Thanks Hazel I will try the bicarb rinse. How much do i use per pint of liquid ?
Turi

Might give salt a miss for just now,

The salt is the really important component in the mouthwash. It is not that bad and I found it never stings my mouth. I am still using it every 3 hours to try and finish off the last of my ulcers.
