Just wanted to give another update on my son and thank everyone for their help.

He is now 3 weeks post treatment and is slowly feeling better he has had some soup and porridge but still has a sore mouth so is still having the drinks He has a mild cough and he says it’s the mucous in his throat it’s worrying me a bit is this normal?

He has an appointment with the oncologist next week so I’ve said he should ask him hope he will.

Thanks.

Afraid so. The thick stuff will be with him for a few weeks yet. Encourage him to sip liquids often and it’s ok to spit it out. If it gets so bad he can’t cope there is a drug called carbocysteine to help thin it.
Is he doing his swallow exercises to keep his muscles strong to prevent aspiration?
