Shattered today

Hi all

I'm into week 8 post treatment and the last 2 weeks have been so positive I almost feel myself. I'm on ensure shakes mainly and trying to eat as much cardboard as possible but it's difficult.

Today though I've hit a brick wall I'm absolutely shattered. Is this a normal part of recovery as I've felt like I've had so much energy recently. Maybe I've got overly enthusiastic and done too much. Definitely doing nothing today other then lying down watching daytime TV.

Thank you all again for the contributions to this forum. I don't respond much but am always reading the discussions sympathising and rejoicing with the positive stories. X

  • Hi, Ozzy Yes! this is par for the course, although you seem to be doing very well, so early into your recovery I remember the cardboard taste, this will get better, with time. Listen to your body and give it time to heal, food and rest, are both fuel for recovering. Take care.

    Regards Ray.

    Hi Ozzy

What you have is radiation fatigue. It will come and go and sometimes just poleaxe you,  stop and catch your breath and rest for a little while. It goes away eventually but will catch you out for a while.

  • BunOzzy As others have said it’s radiation fatigue it’s like running a marathon and hitting the wall You can’t fight it just listen to your body. I became famous in a way for my 20  minute power naps as recovery progressed. It doesn’t last forever but yes it poleaxes you, the more you try to fight it the worse it becomes in my experience
