I've always had the same problem Sofie,
I've alwasy found it frustrating, because there is so much out there for people who want to loose weight, but nothing for those who are trying to gain it... unless your clinically anorexic or the like.
i've never been able to put weight on. A dietitian told me quite a while ago to have everything full fat, none of this fat free stuff etc and worry about the colesterol later, as they can 'sort' it. Another thing they suggested was to fortify milk by adding 3/4 table spoons of dried semi skimmed milk powder to one pint of full cream milk and use that on your cereal, make coffee with and milkshakes and adding things like cheese to mash potato.
I started to do this, but then got diagnosed which has made it harder to put any on ....and i lost more weight.
So frustrating
Oh and Steve Cat Dad just chuck your weight my way, i'll be glad to take some of it on for you !!

Vast amounts of beer and pizza put me on the obese scale.
Hi Cat
Those are good suggestions. Thank you. My issue at the moment is around being able to drink easily. Since my restorative surgery when I drink, a lot of the fluid comes out of the side of my mouth so I am continually mopping it up. I am unable to use a straw as I have no suction. I am still eating puree but that is going O.K. I put Fortisip on my cereal and into anything else that I eat that is sweet to try and up the calories. Drinking is a bit of a struggle so fortified milk shakes etc although a great idea come out of the side of my mouth although I do get quite a lot in. I just saw the speech pathologist who gave me a squeeze bottle to try out and that has helped to a degree.
I am reluctant to eat and drink when I go out because of the mess so I tend to wait until I get home and that is not a good thing as it is then too long between meals. Still getting my head around it but I will get there as I have lost 2k.g. since my last overnight op 2 weeks ago and don’t want to lose anymore.
I have to get into a better routine with my eating and drinking and hopefully that will sort out the issue.
I am just so reluctant to put my life on hold any longer and when I am invited to go out I want to go even if it is around a meal time. I don’t want a struggle with eating and drinking to hold me back so will have to work on better strategies.

Brilliant......We need a sense of humour to get through our days sometimes. Cat, you are a shining diamond on this forum
(I'm sure Steve appreciates it too)

It's so frustrating Lyn, like you i tend to have things at home as i tend to dribble a lot !! and have to chomp the small pieces of food as i can't chew, i not able to use a straw either.
I find using a tea spoon to have my soups etc with as it limits the amount i put in.
Maybe thickening some drinks with ice cream, with summer coming it's a good excuse ! ??
My freinds and family find it hard as they have meals out and feel bad because i can't go with them, but hay ho, it's the way it is.
Keeping fingers crossed for you that it improves.
Best wishes

Hi Cat
Sounds as though we have similar issues. I also use a teaspoon as I have limited mouth opening and a bigger spoon won't fit in. I hadn't thought about using the teaspoon to eat soup as I tend to eat thicker foods but will definitely give that a go.
I still go out with family for meals as I don't like to miss out but I fill up before I go and then just enjoy their company. I just went out to a cafe for my daughter's 38th. birthday the other day and enjoyed watching what everyone else was eating as well as smelling the lovely aromas.I can still join in the conversation.
I hope things improve for you too as you really deserve a break. Maybe we need a magic hat like Steve's.
Sending best wishes
Lyn
