Hi
T4aN2bM0 - throat cancer
My husband, who've I've written about before, has developed an annoying cough. It was particularly bad early hours of this morning when he coughed for half an hour! He's exhausted.
Does anyone any suggestions which might help him? I've suggested buying a humidifier as our bedroom gets really dry overnight but as usual he's very negative and says it won't help He's tried a bowl of water his side of the bed but said that didn't help. Once he starts sipping water and has his first protein supplement, the Dryness and coughing eases. Last night his voice was actually quite strong
We're just a couple of weeks away from getting the results of his nasoendosocopy and CT scan to see if he's beaten the cancer
He's also waking at night with severe hot sweats- I know this is a side effect of the Cisplatin. He's drenched, having to change his t-shirt 3 times, lying on towels. We've mentioned this to his specialist but she doesn't seem overly concerned Does anyone have any experience of this?
In the meantime, he said yesterday, just another day of treading water. I said yes - you're recuperating.
Thank you x
Hi I found a humidifier very helpful through treatment and recovery especially at night. I still sip water at night now I do it almost in my sleep it doesn’t disturb me. Try to get him to read this article he’s in recovery yes but he also needs to convalesce it’s an old fashioned word but apt. I found a walk every day helped as well.

It will help. That and keeping the bedroom warm. Warm air carries more moisture.

Hi
I am 18 months post treatment and still have an annoying dry cough. Nothing really helps but some days it's better than others, possibly related to gastric reflux, so depends on how bad that is. Might be worth trying antacids if he's not already on them?
I also continue to have hot flushes, not menopause related, I was past that but they restarted with radiotherapy (very annoying). I'm told they will go 'eventually'
Thank you . After chatting today, we've purchased an humidifier. I've also sent him the article you attached.
Thank you. He's already on Lansoprazole. He was on Omeprazole before he was diagnosed with cancer.
I'm pleased to hear the hot sweats will eventually pass as I thought they might.
