Hi everyone hope you're all keeping well. Just bobbed on to give a quick update on my Vaccine trial progress.
Last scan showed that the shrinkage has slowed down but still moving in the right direction. I've had 5 rounds of vaccines now and so far the tumour has shrunk from 4cms to 1.8cms which is just incredible !!
The Oncologist is still very happy with everything. I usually feel a bit rubbish for a week after the vaccine but then as my energy picks back up I feel absolutely fine. So lucky.
Next round of vaccines and scans are planned for early May. I'll let you all know how that goes.
In the meantime it's onwards and upwards. Hopefully this will be a big step for the future of Cancer treatments.... I'm incredibly lucky to be involved in it.
Stay well everyone
Trish xx
Thank you Trish. He was on immunotherapy nivolumab, but the tumour still progressed. The consultant did say that sometimes the immunotherapy can change the dynamics and make it more receptive to chemo. I’m hoping this is what’s happening but until he has a scan we can’t be sure. Like you my husband is happy to try anything which gives him hope. He’s not giving up yet! I will discuss these options with his consultant.
Awww, Tilly Mint 61, I am sorry to hear the b*****r is now resisting the treatment. When I went on the trial, my nivolumab had already got good results so I was a bit indifferent about the trial, thinking "it won't work because the nivo is doing its stuff". I'm not sure the rationale for my thinking really! But then a member on the kidney or incurable group shared this post and your results and it was so motivating. I changed my expectations from "zero" to wanting the same response I had had previously with nivo (5.9cm > 2.6cm). "I'll be at NED in no time" I thought. You've got to dream, think big. LOL My feet are back on the ground now and onwards we go.
I hope you get on the fortify trial. Good luck and best wishes xx
Hello,
my husband has had 7 rounds on nivolumab and ipi…… the cancer has shrunk a lot. Did your husbands cancer shrink and then progress or did it just not work ? Just wondering how it might progress for us……
My husband only had nivolumab which didn’t work. He had 5 treatments, one every 4 weeks. This was following 3 chemo, and 30 chemoradiation. None of them made any difference.
Oh so sorry to hear this. Everyone is different, I know things can change for us at any time. It’s hard ….
Thank you. He’s on a different palliative chemo now, but we are hoping he can be put forward for a trial. He wants to keep trying anything available and ge has a great positive mental attitude.
We are very positive too , chemo did make my husband poorly and the cancer grew back shockingly quick after chemo stopped but the immuno seems to be working ….
Thanks Hazel, it is disappointing but I suppose that's the chance you take when you sign up. Hoping the next one is 'the one' .... currently enjoying the break between them. Apparently the next one is quite heavy going 3 times per week but no pain no gain.
Hope you are keeping well.
