Sharing a inspirational 2021 news story - Stanley Tucci reveals he was diagnosed with cancer and is currently in remission.
Apparently Mr. Tucci diagnosed with oral cancer in 2017 after a tumor was found at the base of his tongue that was too large to remove surgically.
He underwent 35 days of radiation treatments, plus seven sessions of chemotherapy, five days a week for seven weeks at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Also developed labyrinthitis, an inner ear condition causing nausea and vertigo, lost his sense of smell, and was weakened to the point that he could barely stand.
Soon after beginning treatment, food started to taste terrible, and not long after that he was forced to eat by feeding tube because of mouth sores and damage to his salivary glands from his treatments. Never a large man, he lost 30 pounds.
My own comment to this report is have faith in the medical teams and keep thinking positive.
Hi. Yes he talks a lot about it and there have been a few interviews on the TV. It’s good to highlight the disease, to bring awareness of the importance of checking your mouth and throat and going to GP or dentist asap.
He is a real foodie too so that gives hope to others regaining their taste.

Michael Douglas.
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
Here in Australia there is a well known and loved singer Johnny Farnham who made the headlines as late last year he had to have a jaw reconstruction, radiotherapy and chemo. He is still in recovery and there is speculation as whether he will be able to sing again. His family keep popping onto the news with updates. Seems he is doing well but as they say it is a long haul. It certainly highlights a cancer that you don't hear much about normally. It is usually all about breast cancer and prostate cancer. Apparently he was a reformed smoker and this seems to be the reason for his cancer.
