Stephen: Stage 2 tonsil cancer: HPV 16. Treatment end 20 January.
Hello all,
Well my symptoms peaked in the 3rd February, and since then things have been improving. My main problem now is that I get a very dry mouth at night. It is bone dry when I wake up.
Other than that the wound is less painful everyday, and I'm considering going back to work in April. (I have been off since the end of October). I have to go back soon or I never will, if that makes sense. I'm still processing the fact I had (have) cancer, sometimes it seems like a dream.

Hello Stephen
I'm so glad you're feeling better! Hang in there, and good luck with return to work.
I have Sahara-dry mouth too. I find Xylimelts helpful - you can stick one to your gum at night. Also sometimes sugar-free gum or Orthana mouth spray though not keen on sweet taste. But mainly just having water handy.
All the very best with your recovery. I know just what you mean about bad dream - hopefully it's all over.

Hi. I used xylimelts (Amazon) at night for dry mouth & chew sugar free gum in the day. I have found ACT gum & dry mouth lozenges work for me. You can buy them via iHerb as they ship from the States. I’ve had 5 acupuncture sessions - auricular for saliva production plus body points for insomnia & relaxation. I definitely have much better sleep now & my mouth is much less dry. I no longer need the Xylimelts. All the best for your continued recovery. I’m nearly 11 months post treatment.
Hi Stephen As others have said Xyimels at night are a lifeline. I’m almost 5 years post radiotherapy and still use them. Sadly dry mouth is a long running side effect it does improve in the daytime for many if us I had auricular acupuncture which I swear kick started my saliva glands to a certain extent but nighttime I sipped water for a good few years as well as xyimelt and day time sugar feee gum helps. Re work see if yiu can do a phased return as it’s still early days for you. Well done Hazel x
