I am now into my sixth year of treatment, six weeks ago two small lumps were found under my arm. After a meeting of the team it was decided to leave it for six weeks. During that time a scan would be done to determine whether it had grown. Unfortunately surgery was ruled out because of the location.
I am waiting for the scan as the lumps have grown noticeable,I have another appointment with the oncologist on March 7th.
I have had two neck dissections due to Squamous Cell Carinoma.

Oh Michael. I’m so sorry to see you back here. I remember Russel Banner had you on immunotherapy. Was that for just the two years?
I hope they can find something to keep you well for years. There are others here on even more sophisticated trials. Hugs

Hi Michael
I’m sorry that you are going through such a tough time, you have been through it. Sometimes it just doesn’t seem right.
I have also had 3 occurrences and had to have 3 big ops starting in 2013 then 2019 and 2022 and know how tough reoccurrences can be. I also felt demoralized for a while but same as you with some help with counselling it did make a huge difference. I now live my life one day at a time and enjoy the moment and don’t take anything for granted.
Stay positive as I have everything crossed that the doctors’ can come up with a successful treatment plan for you.

HI Michael
So sorry to hear your news. It seems terribly unfair. Reading the comments I see that you really are suffering mentally from this latest episode, I can't offer any advice, but totally understand what you are going through. The first 2 times through I coped well, but last October I went to absolute pieces although in the end it was a false alarm. You are not alone in those feelings. I hope they have some positive news regarding treatment when you see your oncologist.
Hi Michael You can get counselling through the hospital but it can take a long time which I found out. I would suggests just going on line and finding someone local and paying for it as I did , There rates vary and I think mine started off at £60 and now pay £40 per hour and we sometimes go well over the hour. You can also go on line and have a session. I would highly recommend it asap. My partner of over 30 years told me she wanted to leave which isn't ideal. So I was in a dark place and life didnt seem worth living. Got over all that and recently had a salvage neck dissection. So its all go . I really hope they sort you out. All the Best Regards Minmax
