I can’t keep anything down

Every thing that went down yesterday came back up with a vengeance last night . I am losing weight and know I can’t afford to. I still have 9 sessions to go and they are giving me anti sickness medication today but I’m worried that I might lose too much weight. I just want to cry all the time and I can’t be bothered with anything anymore.

  • Hi Lillian

I'm so sorry you're having an awful time. I'm sending you hugs.

Try to hang in there, the end of treatment is in sight even though it doesn't feel like it.

I presume you don't have a feeding tube??

I had a PEG but sill couldn't keep the feeds down at about 2 weeks before treatment ended. They kept me in hospital for the last 10 days which they said can happen quite often. It was a blessing for me, got everything back under control. Might this be an option for you?

I hope things settle down asap for you x

  • You are nearly there now Lilian, give the anti sickness pills a try, if they don't work tell your team, they will give you something else. You will get there.

    Regards ray.

  • Hi Lilian. I’ll echo the others. There will be anti sickness meds somewhere that will suit.
Have you tried pump feeding slowly through the night. That suited me down to the ground.
Don’t give up. A day at a time. You’re nearly there.

I have had a cold for 2 weeks and the last couple of days I have been running a fever and temperature.
I am taking soluble paracetamol but I am struggling to get even yogurt and semolina down.
I know that it will have to run its course but I have lost weight and I am concerned that if it doesn’t go away I will lose even more weight. I am literally drained and so weak and  I would be grateful for any advice.

    Thankyou Lillian xx

  • How do you feed, Lilian?

    Perhaps we can help?

  • Have you tried slowing down the flow of feed? If the flow is too quick that can make you sick.

  • Hi Lillian there’s lots of anti sickness meds we’re all started on the cheapest ones. Please ask fir others if they aren’t working . Yiu csn do thus you’ve done the hard bit .Some do end up being admitted snd put on a drip ti sort your hydration  out you’ll be taken to radiotherapy. Treatment is brutal but remember results are worth

  • Hi. I swapped to a lactose free PEG feed as I was being sick a lot. Also try overnight feeding via a pump. I had a slow flow rate over 10 hours each night. I had counselling via Macmillan when I went through a very low patch. Can highly recommend it.
Keep going, things will get easier.

  • Hi Durhamlady You are certainly speaking to the right people here. I would suggest telling your nurse straight away to see what she suggests. Dont do what I did and ended up being admitted. they might suggest a tube so you can feed over night which saves a load of swallowing issues . All the best Regards Minmax

  • I add cold water to thin it out a bit in a jug and pour it in so much at a time xxx
