my consultant is in denial I am coping well, and, is a bit disappointed I'm not playing the suffering game.

I think they relish in the misery tbh...

  • Hi Steve

My wonderful surgeon told me that having a positive attitude is really important and can make a huge difference in recovery. He is always such a positive man and always gives me heaps of encouragement without sugar coating the truth. I have every faith in him that he will always do the very best for me. It does make a huge difference having a surgeon who is really on your side.

Keep up the positive attitude. You will get there.

My consultant says they did absolutely dreadful stuff to patients when he first entered radiotherapy. Techniques have moved forward hugely and he likes to tell the tale of his joy in hearing one patient went home to eat a burger the day after he finished 6 weeks of proton.

Your consultant sounds like such a nice bloke. I'm glad he got to go home and eat his burgers.

  • I just believe that they think technically first and human second. My consultant is a brilliant man but has the weirdest manner at times, knocked me down a couple of times and then finished by telling me to walk out super positive! Go figure!!

It's looking like lung cancer :( thank you for the kind words. I've three children with additional needs. I really don't want to leave them. I'm so scared and alone.

Not the consultant, his patient Wink

It’s self defence. Imagine having to tell folk they have cancer day in day out and go home to try to have a normal life with your family
