An Onward Update

Hello All,

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Christmas as much as they possibly could.

I was a wee bit ambitious with having a Puff Pastry Steak Pie for dinner. However, I could not chew the beef as it was way too dry. I did manage most of the pastry and all of the vegetables; including air-fried Roast Potatoes.

While doing the online weekly shoppng at Tesco for this week, i noticed something that I thought that I would like to try. It was  a processed ready-meal of Liver, Bacon & Mash and I thouroughly enjoyed and finished it completely - although I had added some additional gravy. So that is another Onward & Upward step for me to celebrate.

I did have a setback recently where my GP called to say that my HpA1C was too high at 65 and that I needed to amend my diet somewhat. I must admit that I have been compensating with sweets and biscuits a lot after the radiotheraoy affected my eating. So, I have cut out the sweets and biscuits and not putting sugar on my Weetabix.

Take Care,
Bob

  • Hi Bob well done yes meat can be difficult for a good while. Liver if you like it is soft I can’t stand it. I used to get my butcher to triple mince the mince so I could make my own meals instead of processed its a fine line . Sweet things  are calorie laden but not good for us. Can you manage bananas I still have one sliced most days on porridge or weetabix.

  • Hi Bob. Great to see you trying different things. The best meat to eat is lamb. Partner it with a slow cooker and you’re cooking.

  • Hi Bob

I used to enjoy the cottage and shepherd pie ready meals as well as the liver, they were easier to get down. It took a while to ween myself off the puddings and sweet stuff as it had better taste and easier to eat. Bananas are better if you can manage them

  • Hi Bob I went through a phase of having milk shakes every morning one litre of oat milk 2/3 bananas blueberries , flax seed etc plus ice cream as a treat
