Drooping lip leads to severe dribbling

Hi any comments on surgery in jaw for jaw cancer, and removing lymph nodes and nerves. Then 6 wks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy I find that my lower lip has become deformed enabling me to dribble uncontrollably down my shits/ tops, desk or worktops. I've been told it may come back to normal? It's this that is more concern than lymphoedema, tooth ache or jaw fibrosis. It's the dribbling I can't stand. Wonder if I could have additional surgery even paying for extra plastic surgery?

Hi Germoline. Sorry can’t help I didn’t have surgery. Only chemo and radiotherapy I get occasional dribbles on my heavily radiated side but mostly at night. Which is strange my mouth get dry but still dribbles. Anyway just wanted you to know your post has been read. Have you asked your cns nurse ? Or consultant they may be able to help.

Hi Germolene

I have had jaw surgery, neck dissections and radiotherapy also and have the dreaded dribbles from the side of my mouth. I used to go around with tissues and was constantly wiping.

It has improved over time and happens much less often now but I still carry lots of tissues with me just in case, in fact I should have shares in Kleenex.

When I used to wear a mask because of Covid I used to tuck a tissue inside to try and mop it up.

Check with your consultant and he may be able to give you more info. and let you know if anything might help or whether it is a matter of time.
