Steve: Tonsil Cancer: Stage 2: HPV
Hello all.
I spoke with my dietitian and consultant today, and they are pleased with my diet and progress. My white blood cell count is 11.
The consultant confirms that mucotisis and soreness
are starting. I have a cough caused by phlem build up. I'm following guidelines, but any tips welcome.
Overall still OK and have taste, but that will go soon.
Stephen
Hi Steve. Time to do all that oral hygiene stuff you have a bag full of goodies for if you haven’t started yet.
Caphosol Gelclair Difflam should be there. You can keep your mouth clean with soda bic/salt … a pinch of each in a cup of warm water. Later on you’ll get sticky mucous ( not to be confused with mucositis which is the ulceration and pain you get with radiation damage) Drinking lots helps with that and some people swear by a nebuliser. I managed steaming over hot water.
Rest and a little exercise when you can. Just go with the flow and make sure you’re ahead of the pain by taking analgesics by the clock
