Been back to see my consultant today, I was expecting to be told yet again that they didn't have the results back still but they were and was met with a sea of faces.
Good news is my nodule is clear, but they will be keeping a watch on it.
They aren't going to operate and i cant have the 'normal' length of course of Radiotherapy as i''m not fit enough for that.
So i'm going to having a two week course instead, which will start in about 4 weeks.I have to have my Hannibal Lecter mask made in about two weeks.
I'm also going to be having a nasal gastric tube fitted soon.
Once the Radiotherapy is done it will be fingers crossed and take it from there.
Hi - I had a Hanibal mask (as you put it!) and 6 weeks of radiotherapy and 2 chemos. The mask didn't bother me at all - either having it made or using it for each of the sessions. After my Radiotherapy finished, they asked me if I would like to take it home as a souvenir. (I passed on that!) I didn't have a nasal tube - I had ( have) a PEG tube. I hated it At first, but it's just part of my life that keeps me alive at the moment. Hope all goes well for you Steve
Good luck with the treatment. I believe there ae some ongoing trials about reducing the amount of radiation patients have (maybe others can verify) so your "reduced" treatment may end up being just as successful as the "full" treatment.
Hi Steve, I won't bother having the mask or the tube either for the same reason. I will keep my mask, my mate is a fantastic tattoo artist so i'll get her to do a design on it, it'll turn something not so nice into something lovely. All the best with your treatment.
Hi, it's purely down to the fact i had a fungal lung infection back during the first lock down and was in hospital for 5 wks. Because of that i lost weight, which i couldn't afford to do in the first place ( I've always been the type to struggle putting weight on } and has left my lungs stuffed. If i hadn't have had that i'd have been ok and they would have operated etc. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be. Hope your doing ok
