So, I've survived the mask! Last treatment tomorrow I've come away with half a pharmacy by way of pain relief and now have to be sensible rest and keep pain under control which apparently is what the next 3 weeks is about. I'm hoping it does not get significantly worse bad enough as it is!
So all I can say is that if I have done it so can anybody. The team at The Sussrx Cancer Centre and in the Macmillan Horizon Centre have been fantastic and they are the people who got me through.
Big Macmillan coffee morning being organised by my friend Sandra on Saturday. Can't eat or taste but I'll be there.
This is fantastic news Alfie. I’ve watched your progress through these pages like a mother hen. I’m so pleased you’re through. The pain shouldn’t get much worse. It just lingers for a while. Best foot forward. Recovery begins sometimes backwards but you’ll get there.

Try sipping little sips of warm water to thin the mucous. A bedside humidifier might help. In the day you could try a nebuliser. I never used one but managed by steaming my head over hot water.
At night I slept with a kitchen roll under the pillow and spat into it through the night simply throwing bits on the floor. In the morning I collected them up into a paper bag and burnt it on the Rayburn. At first I spat a lot but it quickly got less and less.
It’s horrid but it will get better

Well done just hunker down for next few weeks. Yes go to coffee morning you might not be able to drink but am sure you can rattle the collection tin. As for mucus I had humidifier at night and nebuliser during day and if I woke in night. Any consolation it goes as quickly as it came often replaced with dry mouth. But you’ll get there we all do.
