Thought I would start a thread on here in the hope it helps others....
So I go in for my half gloss and double diss and all the other related stuff on 6th Oct. Did my pre-op today and got a consultation, PCR and another blood test before the big day. 07:30am start on the day and consultant suggested a 15hr job (eek!).
Letter stats a 2-3 week stay but he said be prepared for 4 so hopefully managing my expectations.
From formal diagnosis on 2/8 to op (planned) on 6/10 is not a bad effort, thank you NHS.

i got a diagnosis in September and was on the RT treatment table 12 weeks later. But I’m still here.

Hi Gene. You’ve got this just take everything in baby steps. Don’t think too far in advance. You’re in good hands our NHS at its best. I was 63 days from diagnosis to treatment starting now 4 years post treatment Remember pack a long cable for your phone tablet kindle as plugs are usually out if the way. Maybe a little whiteboard to communicate with over first few days.

Hi GeneS the NHS are not bad at dealing with things when they really need to. Hopefully the operation will not be as extreme as 15 hours and a possible 4 week stay. Often, they need to tell you the worst scenario and deliver something much better. Fingers crossed!
When I was going for my tongue op I took my phone and an android app called speech assistant. This allows you to pre build sentences, so if you are more technology orientated that may be better than a white board, but it is good advice to have something to hand.

Good luck Gene. I’ll be rooting for you xx
