Hola all from Spain. I’m now 6 weeks post radiotherapy and two out of three rounds of cisplatin. Was unable to complete the chemo after being admitted to hospital for 4 days and then 9 days following the first two. Had a peg fitted at week 3 which was a life saver and I still have it. I’m able to eat small amounts now supplemented with feeds. My biggest problem is sheer exhaustion, my haemoglobin level has been low since the first chemo and it just won’t come up. So far I’ve had 3 units of blood and then 2 weeks ago an iron transfusion but this weeks bloods have just come back and it’s dropped again. From 8.6 to 7.7. I’m starting to wonder if it will ever improve and feeling very down at the moment. Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi Khrys
Good news on getting through treatment
Chemo induced anaemia is common so relax that you are being treated to get things back to normal.I have a friend who needed a few transfusions and her doctors put her on a drug to help make more red blood cells. She was fine in the end

Khrys....you'll be fine. Just take it easy. Not only are you anaemic but there's radiation fatigue to complicate matters. It will get better

Hi Khrys well done from me ,we’ve just arrived in Spain for our Autumn trip.looks like today we’ve brought the clouds with us. As Dani says you’re also dealing with radiation fatigue which floors the best if us without added anemia. Have you had your potassium levels checked as well ? I only had 2 of planned 3 chemo so don’t worry about that, radiotherapy is the main event in our type of cancers. I’m now 4 years post treatment and happily living my life. The first 6-12 months are the hardest we all recover at different speeds , I was needing 20 min power naps for almost 3 years , as long as I had them I was fine the rest if the day could hill walk cycle but needed my nap.
