Just a quick note to say that the anti HPV cancer recurrence vaccine trial (HARE 40) I was due to start a couple of weeks ago has been postponed. Having given very much an armful of blood for the baseline and undergoing various tests to gauge my suitability I then contracted Covid, having managed to avoid it up till then. So it’s back to square 1. It’ll probably start now in late September. I’ll keep you updated.

I asked about that at my last appointment. They had not heard of it but were going to research what was happening at UHS - for H&N Salisbury and UHS are partners. Hopefully hear at my next appointment what, if any, options I may have.

Ha ha! Yes, I realise this is probably aimed at something of a niche audience but if it works it would be a major advance in post HNC care. The nurse told me they’re struggling to get people signed up because of the required level of commitment - at least 16 hospital visits over 3 months, 8 of which are full days with the possibility of being kept in overnight if you react badly. And no reimbursement apart from a ‘contribution’ towards travel. As far as I know only Southampton are involved.

That’s the trial a friend of mine drove down from Whitby for. They spent a fortune on accommodation. Fingers x for September.
