hi, My husband has throat cancer, has had 4 of 6 rounds chemo, and immunotherapy, emergency tracheostomy due to 2 hemorrhages after first cycle, plus feeding tube (RIG) for 2+ mths. Persistent, nasty (whooping sounding) cough, and headaches/earache still ongoing. Improvements seem to be insignificant; and when they happen he then takes 3 steps back. It’s been a very painful journey physically and emotionally for both of us. Just wondering if anyone can share their experiences if they’ve had similar experiences?
HinShanna I am almost 4 years post radiotherapy for tonsil cancer with several effected lymph nodes. My blog below details my experiences.the one step forward 2 steps back is a common theme in the early days. I do know a few who have had emergency tracheostomies they are all over a year post treatment and getting in with their life’s now.
pis he having radiotherapy or just, chemo? And immunotherapy?
I had 35 radiotherapy and 2 x10:hour chemo therapy, treatment is pretty brutal. If earache continues Metin to hospital team as tinnitus can be a result if chemo, which chemo is he having I had cisplatin.

Hi Shanna16
I did see your other post regarding your husband and know exactly how you are feeling.
my husband had cancer at the back of his tongue that had spread to both of his lymph nodes and like your husband had to have an emergency tracheostomy due to a bleed before his treatment started he also had a feeding tube fitted while he was in hospital a few days later- this was very traumatic for him as you will well know.
He had 7 weeks of Radiotheraphy and 5 of his 7 chemo infusions he refused the last two as they made him feel too ill.
His treatment finished on 11th August 2021 which was then followed by 6 Monthly infusions of Immunatherapy as part of the Compare Trial.
He had his 12 month review last week and all is still clear.
I can only say that it has been a tough road but thing are much better now- he is back cycling has now taken up Paddleboarding and we are out walking most days.
He does still have a dry mouth and I need to make all of his meals very moist but it is all getting better.
If I can be of any more help just let me know
Sue
