Hi All, on Wednesday started my week 1 of 6 weeks RT and 2 cisplatin. What was supposed to be an overnight chemo and stay turned into a 3 day inpatient stay as my calcium and sodium became low after cisplatin as I retained a lot of the fluid in the body (+ 2.5 kg of my prechemo weighr). Nausea under control but have loud tinnitus on and off. Meeting consultant next week, potential switch from cis to carboplatin. Hoping the tinnitus wanes, no appetite whatsoever but food is fuel so little and often. :) did you also have tinnitus and how it behaves through the treatment.
Plenty of people here were switched. I was switched to Carboplatin on week 2 due to increased tinnitus. It was a 1 hour session rather than the 5 hour Cisplatin session. They’re both platinum based but the Carboplatin maybe has fewer potential side effects from what people say? I still had to run down to RT and jump the queue for the Varian IMRT machine straight after my session though!
