Oncology Appointment Deferred

As I had a hospital appointment for Diabetic Retinopathy on Wednesday my partner, Wilma, and myself had an LFT each and Wilma tested Coronavirus positive on Tuesday; I was negative. I called the hospital, Ninewells, and they told me to attend as normal as long as I did not have any symptoms.

As I was to have a Shingles vaccine tomorrow and I tested myself again  to day and I was positive. As I was immune suppressed since the start of the pandemic I had to contact the hospital again and I will be starting on some anti-viral tablets from this evening; when the pharmacist delivers them to my home.

When she called, the pharmacist was concerned that the radiotherapy had also weakened my immune system and she did not know that I had been taking Mycophenolate since 2020; which I was why I was placed on the at-risk register.

Anyway, My Shingles vaccine, my Oncology appointment and my additional Covid booster have all been deferred for a minimum of 4 weeks. My medication has just been delivered and it is called Paxlovid.

Nobody else in my Macmillan support team had mentioned that the RT would weaken my immune system. Anyone else experienced this at all?
