Hello again. Today I had my swallow observed by the nurse, and it seems that there is tightness in the throat muscles causing me to need to swallow 4 or 5 times for even a sip of water to go down, and sometimes it comes out of my nose and makes such squelching noises. . . .Did anyone else experience this, and how do you overcome the problem?
I think I’m going to be recommended for an X-ray of my swallow to find out more details. It is 12 weeks since I finished treatment of 35 radiotherapies and 5 cisplatin chemotherapies.

Hi BennyM. I had 2 surgeries but no treatment. The nurse put a stephascope on my throat to listen whilst I drank water. I had to swollen several times for it to go down, if I held slightly down liquid came out of my nose. It did get better took a few weeks ( everyone is different ) but now I can swollow most food without too many problems. Speech therapist should be able to give you some exercises . I can only give you my experience, others on here who have had treatment will be able to give you much more advice
