Beard Stubble

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Facebook reminded me this morning that it was this time last year that I had completed 50% of my radiotherapy treatments (15/30).
I have only now realised that my beard is growing more than  it ever has. This time in 2021 I only had a small area of growth on my chin and the rest had no daily growth whatsoever. Now I need to shave every day, if I can be bothered.

  • Ha. No beard Bob but the hair at the nape of my neck grew back pretty quickly.

Yes Dani, and my barber expressed amazement at the really dark line of non-grey hair at my neckline too,

  • Beard on my face is pretty much what it was but I still have less growth on my neck than before, cuts shaving time which I'm all for!

My brother (who apparently I very much look like) sports an extremely smart stubbly beard; whenever I've tried to grow one I look like a scarecrow (wife used to say I looked like the wild man of Borneo), it's very annoying.

  • Hi Bob,

No beard for me but last year my hay-fever was worse, as no nasal hair! It wasn't until after treatment when I realised I'd lost half my eyelashes too. The big bit was nape of neck, it was completely bald. I've logged my re-growth on Instagram, almost shoulder length now, but it has come bavk curly and the rest is straight! Sweat smile

My doctor told me of a man with ginger hair who's beard grew back black! Apparently all to do with the follicles being affected by the rt.

Strange how the anniversaries pop up. I went back to work a year ago tomorrow, just my PET and remission anniversaries to go.

    Hope you are well.

  • Eighteen months on and RT side of my neck is still as smooth as the proverbial baby’s bottom, sadly. I do sport a beard of sorts but only from the chin upwards. (Like the opposite of an Amish beard!)

I live in hope it might all grow back one day.
