Hi all,

Hope you're all doing well.

I remember someone suggesting a link called a little bit of salt some time ago... but can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know of it or can tell me where to find it?

I'm week 5 post treatment (35 radio 2 of 3 chemo... hpv p16+ no surgery bar a base of tongue removal part tonsillectomy). I'm trying meals again and finding things aren't tasting great... I've got to drinking a cuppa and can manage ready brek/soup/mashed potato and veg and pasta with home made sauces so wanting some ideas to try so the effort of cooking doesnt go to waste. Other recipes I've seen I'm not fancying... which is half the battle!

Fingers crossed someone can help x

  • Hi Shab

Good to see you back sounding so upbeat. I had a really bad appetite for months. It’s pants. But hey ho you plug on. I hope you find something to get your teeth into so to speak.

  • I can particularly recommend the mushroom orzotto, made it five or six times now and it's lovely!

  • Hugging brilliant, thank you, I was starting to think I'd imagined it! X

  • Thanks Dani, hope you're well. I'm amazed how quickly you heal, I was (I think) really fortunate to not have outside neck burns, managed on ibuprofen mostly from week 5 and stopped all meds 2 weeks ago. Fatigue is my main battle, saying that I'm out walking for an hour a day and started decorating. Its hard not to get disheartened re food (i could murder a kebab) but trying bits, finding the taste changes after a few mouthfuls but it's a good sign I can taste. Trying to remember to keep the rig feeds up as my appetite goes with the taste. Found out wine is a massive no haha x

  • I'm really well, thanks.

Life is good and I know it will continue to be.

It's funny about taste at the beginning. What I found was that the first two mouthfuls tasted  wonderful then it all disappeared to ashes. I think quite a few people experience that. It too two years for me to be able to sample wine and another year to actually enjoy it. I happily do without now. A nice real ale or a Guiness goes down well and I was fine with beer very quickly.

Don't get disheartened ....you are well on the way and it's just time
