Hello,
Just had a call from the radiotherapy team and they want to delay treatment by one week so no longer starting next Monday, but 4th July instead.
My oncologist is on leave this week (which I only just learned) and they want to do more planning with him when he returns on Monday. He had done some planning on the Thursday & Friday after my scan (which late last Wednesday afternoon) but they were hoping he'd do some further work remotely - but unfortunately not! I hope it doesn't get delayed any further. But I suppose things have been fairly fast moving up to now trying to cram in so many appointments (I was diagnosed on may 17th). But I am Very impatient
I'm very disappointed as I keep building myself up to start treatment, but now waiting another week But I guess at least I get another weekend to relax (as I would be thinking about nothing else other than starting treatment!!), so I hope the weather remains good!

Hi Helen your trajectories similar to mine I was put in pathway 14 May 2018 treatment started 14 July so don’t stress about it time wise. It’s better to get the planning just as they want it So like , you say fingers x for the weather in west Yorkshire we’ve now got drizzle. Hopefully it wil penetrate into the soil and allotment needs it. Another week tin eat chocolate magnums before treatment starts bonus.

Just chill Helen. It won’t make any difference. I had to wait nearly two months to start mine.

Hi Helen
Just to acknowledge, it's the biggest problem all the waiting around but they have to be very precise with the final positioning of the Radiotherapy, mine was delayed as the Oncologist I first saw wasn't the best for my Cancer so they waited till the better one came back off holiday and ahse changed all the treatment plan, but glad to say thank God as I have just been given the all clear. So bear with the waits as it hopefully turns out well
Take Care and enjoy for a bit
Tony

Thanks Tony - you're right, I know! As the RT team said, they want to spend enough time to get it just right. I only had my planning scan + mask last Wednesday so we would've been pushing things a bit to be ready for this coming Monday. I need to learn to have more patience LOL!

Not just that but availability. Some centres just don’t have the capacity.

Hi Helen. I’m also starting radiotherapy in Glasgow on 4 th July. Had my mask fitting and planning scan last week, a tooth out this week and another MRI tomorrow. Hateful stuff! See oncologist next week too to discuss things. Like you had numerous appointments including 2 general anaesthetics for biopsy and an aborted robotic Surgery leading up to this starting in March this year. And most in Glasgow. A 80 mile round trip for me and my daughters who have gone with me. We should keep posting if we can and compare notes if it helps. Good luck.
Cathy
Please do Cat. Your cancer is almost the same as mine and I’m fine three and a half years later.

You don’t realise how much it helps.
it’s all very well us “old lags” posting with words of support but having somebody else go through treatment with you in these pages is something else.

Hi Cat welcome from me as Dani says one of the old lags.
