On Wednesday I had my post-treatment PET-CT and am unexpectedly calm whilst waiting for the results. I've been treated for hpv+ left tonsil cancer with spread to just 2 nodes (which, considering I'd been putting off seeing the GP for 4 months, I feel is pretty lucky).
Follow-up appointment is on Wednesday and I'm pretty hopeful. I'm sure my thyroid is going to show as a hotspot as it's pretty swollen and I still have tenderness when I swallow but I'm not too worried about either of those.
I've had manual lymph drainage too so I look much less like Buzz Lightyear. I can eat just about anything albeit with gallons of water. I really miss saliva!
I had no surgery, 7 cycles of Cisplatin and 35 RT. RIG was a lifesaver for me and I would really recommend it. It was removed 2 weeks ago and, although I don't miss it, it was brilliant for taking Laxido! That stuff is vile!
Wish me luck for Wednesday :)
Hi SpecRad, well done on finishing your treatment, you're doing very well with eating, so soon, I agree about the RIG mine was a lifesaver, I was 100% relient on it for about 10 weeks. I too would always recommend to have one, if it is offered. Good luck for Wednesday.
Regards Ray.
Great that you’re through and sounding upbeat. Early days yet but I can guarantee that by Christmas you’ll be a new person Fingers crossed for your results.

HinSpec Rad Everything x for Wednesday , remember it’s extremely rare for our treatment to fail in the first instance. Once we get to end of year one reoccurrence s are rare , by end of year 2 we’re almost home and dry. I’m almost 4 years post and still getting slight improvements so never despair , we get told 2 years and that it but I know plenty who are still getting improvements.
We await your results
