Hi everyone I had my first chemo radiotherapy on the 9th May , 2 weeks ago , from about the 19th I’ve been feeling sick after radiotherapy & sometimes during the weekend , could this still be the chemo ? I’m back on anti sickness meds too , I’m not sure if it’s my dryish mouth causing it xx
Hi aly
i had a great deal of nausea all through my treatment and for several months afterwards. I was on loads of anti sickness for a good while. It all slowly improved after treatment.

Hi Lizzie I have spoken to someone now & I got given medication after my first treatment & I have a bit more stronger medication I can take so that’s good , I have a really big phobia of being sick , I always have done , thanks for your reply xx
hi Aly it will be a combination of both chemo snd radiotherapy. It does affect us all differently. How are you aoart from the sickness feeling ?

Oh wow does it take that long for chemo to leave your system ? I’m doing ok so far Hazel , a bit tired & my tongue is a bit dry but I have mouthwashes , I’m waiting for other side effects which I know I shouldn’t as it’s different for everyone, so far I can handle it xx
Hi Aly the actual chemo will have gone but it’s done what it needs to do there’s changes going on everything is cumulative . The cancers nasty and needs nasty things doing to it if that makes sense. Just take it all day by day things can ramp up towards end of week 3 but not everyone gets everything. Dry mouth is the common one we all seem to get that one.
Keep on plodding

Hi Aly. I had nausea most of the way through my treatment and I didn’t have chemo. I couldn’t figure out whether it was the RT or the morphine at first. I decided it was the analgesia and it stopped when I came off the morphine . I learned to swallow it down after actually throwing my first NG tube up. I was given metoclopramide as an antiemetic which did very little.

Hi Dani I don’t think it can be my oramorph as I’ve been on that for some months now , I stopped taking most of my pain meds after my first treatment as my pain I had since last June wasn’t as bad , this made me feel worse haha so I am coming of them gradually until they’re needed so instead of 4 times a day I’m doing 2 for now xx
Just tell your team then. I’m sure chemo nausea dissipates fairly quickly. But I might be wrong.

Hi Aly - sorry to hear you are still feeling sicky. Mine did wear off during the chemo week but I’m not looking forward to round 2 next Monday. I’m struggling with dry mouth too - drinking lots of water but also using biotene dry mouth spray (bought from Amazon) which does help.
Take care
