Dental Post-RT

Hi All,

I had a post-radiotherapy check-up at Dundee Dental Hospital on Thursday and they were delighted to report that there were no abnormalities. I am so glad that I opted to retain my teeth as they initially suggested that some folks have their teeth extracted before RT.

I was prescribed some more Duraphat toothpaste and, when I remarked about my dry mouth and 'thick' saliva, i was also given some "Saliveze" dry mouth spray - does anyone have experience of this and did it work for you?

Onwards & upwards

Thanks Again,
Bob

  • I don’t Bob. Let us know how you get on with it. Xx

  • I had four squirts of the "Saliveze" yesterday evening and I managed to eat half of a (large) fresh breaded haddock, so it seems to help a bit. At lunchtime today I had an individual crusty steak pie, after 4 squirts of "Saliveze", and only managed half of it - way too dry (I should have made some gravy from granules), never mind, I will just keep trying.

  • Yes keep going. Just try all sorts of stuff. I found mayonnaise was great on fish and any kind of sauce on meat. Chicken was a problem for some time and even now I find thigh meat easier than breast.
