I’m meant to be going into hospital overnight tomorrow to have my RIG fitted the next day , I’ve been given wrong information about how it’s going to be done .They said I would be put out & the tube would be guided by X-ray ultrasound, I have just been told it will be by local anaesthetic & I will have to have an NG tube down my nose & throat ! I’m sorry but as you all know I’ve been anxious & scared for weeks now about this , I’ve told them what I think & she is going to sort something out , including no overnight stay needed as I can have bloods done tomorrow x
Oh Aly that’s pants. They will sedate you pretty heavily if you ask. I had a Gastroscopy years ago and was given midazolam, I can’t remember a thing. I had another a couple of months ago but without sedation and honestly it was ok. A little uncomfortable at first but ok.
Just hold out for sedation and you won’t know it’s happening.

The nurse has just said she will sort out something for me & also I don’t have to go in overnight just to have my blood done so I’m having that done tomorrow then home then back in at 7 , I hope they can sort something out Dani , I don’t want any more delays with treatment xx
Hi Aly14, the way they have told you how the RIG will be fitted, is the way they did mine, you will be sedated so you will be fine. They are very good at what they do. Before you know it, it will be over. Look at it as another step on the way to getting you better.
Regards Ray.
Hi Aly oh dear not what you needed to hear. Sounds like it a peg then as opposed to a rig. Insist on the heavy sedation Sending hugs as there’s not much else I can do.

Hi Hazel no I did say to her so it’s a peg & she said no it’s a rig also after speaking to her there’s no need to have an overnight stay either , I thought it was strange , I asked her why it was & she said to have blood taken , I said can’t I have that done tomorrow & come home rather than take up a bed , she said yes that’s ok so got to go for my tube to be put it at 7 on Wednesday , it was a shock more than anything Hazel , for weeks I’ve been told I will be put out to have it done & all guided by an X-ray ultrasound & then her to come out with local anaesthetic & the tube going down my nose / throat to my stomach, I’ve got to see what they say Wednesday now , also I had to have a covid test done Friday just gone , she said I’ve got to have another one as they only last 72 hours so that was a waste of time , they knew I wasn’t going in until the 3rd/4th xx
