hi, I had an appointment with my oncologist yesterday. After first cycle of chemo my cancer reacted to treatment. Lump on my neck almost disappeared…
oncologist said it is good sign even se of chemo are so bad and I cried all day yesterday . They gave me omorphine now and I woke up today almost happy
Next week 2 cycle , and after 3 going to start radio and chemo treatment.
How I going to do it ? If I can not be strong enough to cope with mouth ulcers now ?
Hi Basbas. That's not a great letter to have this morning. It would have been better to have had a face to face so you could understand what that 20% really did mean and how going forward you can improve on that.
Life is made up (especially in the cancer world) or chances. In our case of cures, reoccurrences etc. I was given a 60-70% chance of reoccurrence and it did happen.
If you can hold onto the fact that 20% does not mean that outcome it will happen to you that would be good. Of 5 of us in your situation one will be lucky. Here's hoping that is you.
Different circumstances Basbas, and I'm giving away something of myself here, but nearly thirty years ago now I was in addiction rehab; there were ten of us in the room and our counsellor said, "..statistically only two of you will be clean and sobre in two years time".
I looked around the room and said to myself, "I wonder who the other one will be?" (as it transpired the "other one" became my wife)
Odds are there to be beaten my friend, don't give up.
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
I was told that by my consultant face to face , I tried to forget about it. And tara white and black on my table…
Hi. I remember you saying that when you first introduced yourself. It’s not a nice figure to contend with but what’s to say you’re not one of the 20%?
There is a chance. It’s nit brilliant but it’s there. If there were no chance they wouldn’t be treating you. Huge hug!!!
