Hi all its me I'm back again after my  maxfax appt went well I have been ok for a while however before I got referred I had a cold sore throat cough for almost 3 months on and off took anti biotics for sinus infection ?? If it was that been clear for about a week and a half now I'm coughing got cold and a bit sore throat again when I'm laid on my side my breathing whistles or squeaks when I exhale I've read it says this can be a blockage now I'm scared again seeing go Thursday worried about throat or lung cancer now help

  • Hi Tracie. Did you say you were waiting for an ENT referral? When I was sent to hospital for my first appointment it was with MaxFac and he did check my throat.

Try not to worry about blockages ...in the respiratory system they are usually due to mucous. I say this as a life long asthmatic.

  • Hi,Tracie63 I am bucephalus,I do not know what treatment for what if any you have had or is due..I had 30 RT treatments completed 6 months ago with voice box cancer which has been reviewed several times since then and found to be gone.Since then I have had a constant sore throat which my consultant is not worried about plus a slight dry intermittent cough. This is normal for the RT I have had.I do not have any experience of breathing whistles etc,but what I can say is that you are worrying yourself unnecessary, wait until you see your medical team ,you worrying will change nothing. There are hundreds of things it could be beside throat or lung cancer. The human imagination or "Dr.Google are your worst enemy and your mind races ,hence making you scared-Thats natural being human-but please just wait and see and then hopefully laugh at why you put yourself through it all.If this advice is not helpful, contact your team to  help  allay  your fears, they are always available.

    GOD LUCK.

    Raymond.

  • Hi Raymond, great to hear how well you are doing.

  • Hi guys Raymond Bucephalus is the name of father Brown's bike in the tv series !! I don't understand why I can be rid of the symptoms for such a short time and then boom back again into see GpThursday to get referred think I've lost some weight too constant throat clearing is back I feel so nervous and low I'm just so tired of all this I feel like they are missing some thing major hi Dani hun xxx

  • I picked bucephalus because it was the name of the horse of  one of the greatest leaders whoever lived and whose battle tactics are still taught today--ALEXANDER THE GREAT,not an old bikeStuck out tongue winking eye.Best Regards.

  • All you can do is wait...you know how to do this now. Hopefully you'll get the same excellent result.

My husband suffers with post nasal drip. It makes him cough and in the mornings he is full of phlegm. He's had ops on his nose and all sorts of "treatment" Its annoying more than harmful. He lives with it.

  • Hi Raymond I did not know about the origins of Bucephalus but it is a regal name anyway ! Yes Dani I know how to wait my friend and being able to chat to you guys helps a lot x I'm sorry hubby has to put up with all that stuff but I'd rather be checked out given some meds or whatever and go back to living

  • Hi Raymond it's good to see you are doing well, I too still get a sore throat from time to time, I'm 41/2 years  post treatment. I put it down to my new normal. All the best.

    Regards Ray.

  • Me too,if a consultant is not worried, why should we.I still have other hurdles to get over, but awaiting results of referral about OESOPHAGUS to James Cook.Have booked 4 holidays in the UK,cannot wait for referrals or what reviews might pick up,life goes on as best you can.

    Regards and Best wishes.

    Raymond.
