Over the last 8-10 weeks I have noticed that I am a wee bit unsteady on my feet, or dizzy. I think it is a balance issue and I am wondering if it could be another after-effect of radiotherapy. In the same period I have noticed that my eyesight is deteriorating. Has anyone else encountered anything similar?
I am seeing the ENT Oncologist at the first week in April and wondering if it is worth mentioning. Your thoughts please.
It may be old age, as I am getting on now (71 in May), but I just thought to check here.
Thanks Again,
Bob
PS - I haven't touched any alcohol for 10 months

With regards to my eyesight - IN called my GP today and she called me back at 3:00pm and it appears that I have Viral Conjunctivitis and I will have some Antibiotic eye-drops from the local chemist tomorrow. I had this a few years ago and I could not see for about 4 days, so I will be off the computer for a few days.
When it happened before, I am sure that my partner, Wilma, was stealing my chips from my plate
Hi Bob
Glad you got your eyesight problem diagnosed - hope it's improving.
With regards to feeling unsteady or dizzy, this is not unheard of. Firstly I would suggest getting a blood test to check your thyroid is functioning properly. A few months after I'd completed my radiotherapy I began feeling very unsteady and dizzy and found I had hypothyroidism which can occur after rt. I began feeling unwell again recently and I've just had to have my medication increased again.
If your thyroid is OK, a friend of mine who was experiencing dizziness after rt saw a physio who specialised in vestibular rehab which helped her.

I visited my ENT Oncologist (Dr Casasola) at Ninewells this morning and he reassured me that it is very unlikely that the RT has had any effect on my balance or my eyesight.
After an inspection he stated that he was happy with my progress and that my current problems with my throat and saliva issues were normal and will ease eventually. See him again in 3 months time.
