Back in the loop

Hesitate to post this, because it's probably nothing (like last time); but just home from an MRI after team felt something "different" at a routine check a couple of weeks back.

Eight and a half years after my cancer experience started I just can't seem to shake it, which is a bit rotton. Have an appointment with my CNS on the 15th (trying a "button" instead of using baseplates for those that know about such things), hopefully they'll have the result by then.

  • Well I hope, like last time, it's nothing Mike.

  • Fingers crossed Mike it’s nothing. You know yourself how much scarring you have after your particularly nasty surgery so here’s hoping that’s all it is. I say all but you know what I mean. It’s s bugger not being able to shake this thing from your life. Still having to wait a month from a suggestion that something was different for results is soul destroying even though you know there’s nothing you can do.
Good luck with a button. I must say they look better. Don’t know why they don’t do them in different colours to coordinate with a natty cravat.
Keep punching and let us know what happens.
More good luck and a big hug. Xxx

  • Hi Mike, fingers crossed it's a false alarm.

    Regards Ray.

Good thinking that! I shall suggest it to them, in the early days I always used to hide my neck with a scarf of some sort but now I'm "loud (metaphically) and proud". Most HMEs are flesh toned but my fave when out and about is the "energy" model, much more noticable!

  • Mike I sure hope that it is a false alarm.

  • Thanks Peter, I'm really not getting too stressed about it; it's a bit of a pain to spend 45 minutes in the scanner (again) but, lump aside, I have none of the other flags....my weight is fine (could do with losing a bit!) and I have no swallowing problems, which was the clincher in 2020.

No point in getting worried about it, my life in the last eighteen months or so has left me very fatalistic; I'll cross whatever bridges I have to if/when they materialise.

  • Hi Mike. I do hope it is a false alarm as you have already been through so much. The waiting is definitely the worst.

I know what you mean about being fatalistic about things as I feel the same way. It seems the more you go through the more you feel that way. Same as you I am continuing to enjoy life day by day and enjoying whatever it brings.

Good luck and I wish you only the best.

  • Well today was a complete waste of time; MRI report not done yet despite my CNS chasing it this morning, she was on leave last week so wasn't around to hurry it along....assured me it'd be later this week. Then the button she'd ordered was too big, she tried to fit it (while I tried to cough up my lungs) but it wasn't playing ball. Hey ho, all part of life's rich pattern, as my dad always used to say.
