Hello All

Its been a long time since I came on here, to be honest with everything that went on I needed a break from the word Cancer.  Past couple of weeks have been a bit hectic with hospital appointments, my Crohns was getting out of control as not been allowed to take any immunosuppressants due to the cancers that were coming thick and fast so had MRI and blood tests with view to starting Methotrexate the lowest form they can give with my history.  Lung Oncology have said its fine to take but want me to have a scan on Monday to make sure the Xrays have not missed anything and as my breathing is a bit worse than it was.  Also chased up head and neck as seemed to have fallen between the cracks and not been seen since June.  Also had a dermatology appointment today to check half a dozen growths most to do with Ferguson Smith Syndrome I thought.  Came away with urgent referal back to head and neck for one on the other side of my nose possibly cancer and urgent surgery required for one on chest which they are sure is a cancer and to remove the remainder by curette and diathermy as per my usual keratoacanthoma's caused by FSS.  So just when I thought it was all over seems I have to go again.

Meantime I still carry on, back to work a couple of days a week and still trying to cope with the Sherman and his ability to get filthy.  Hope you are all OK.

Best Wishes

Mo

  • Oh Mo that’s a blow! Hang on in there. Your wonderful attitude has this rubbish kicked away time and time again. It’s not fair that you have to though.

Bracken was in for a ruptured cruciate 10 days ago. 12 weeks rest. He’s nit a happy bunny!

  • Poor Bracken, not a nice operation, had a dog that did that once and we used to swim him at a dog pool to strengthen his muscles both before and after surgery.  Sherman is driving me nuts this morning he wants his walk but we are in the midst of the storm, hope you are safe in Wales.

I am not nearly as upbeat as I come across there are days when I wonder why I bother, everything aches and still so fatigued.  Just having a sit in between cleaning chores.  Hoping we dont get a power cut before I have run the hoover round lol.

    Take care

  • I’m not surprised.

  • Hi Mo

Lovely to hear from you but it would have been nicer in better circumstances.

Good luck with the referrals and surgery.

Do take it easy.  Thinking of you and the naughty Sherman.  There's a lot of him to get filthy!

  • Hi Mo

I am so sorry to hear about your ongoing issues. I know what you mean when you say you get sick of hearing the cancer word. I am having ups and downs as well and just when you think you are ahead of the game it comes back to haunt you. Having said that, all we can do is hang in there and take one day at a time which can be easier said than done on some days. You are doing amazingly still being at work.

I know being on this forum has helped me so much and the support I have been given has made such a difference.

Thinking of you and Sherman and sending you lots of positive hugs.

P.S. Hope the worst of the storm is over and that there has not been too much damage in your area. There has been a huge amount of coverage about it in Australia. Sounds really scary.

  • Hi Dani

Hope they can do something about the gastric reflux. It can be the pits.

Poor Bracken, hope he has a quick recovery.

  • Hi Sophie, thanks for the reply, with this forum we know that everyone is going through their own struggles and we all handle it in our own way.  Unless you have been there its hard to explain the treatments and what they do to you.  As you say its one day at a time but I always try to keep a positive attitude.  Regarding work I only do 10 hours a week at a vets on reception.  People are so strange, I had a lady this week about my age could not possibly put her little pug on the scales as she was not well.  I picked it up and weighed it then had to laugh to myself as I bet i could top her list of illnesses.

Storm caused a lot of damage but we didnt do too bad just one fence panel down.  Lots of trees down in the woods I walk Sherman in.

    Take Care

    Love Mo xx

  • Hi Lyn

I have blooming small sliding hernia. I bet caused by all the retching I did for 8 weeks! I'm taking Melatonin and Aloe Vera juice to protect my oesophagus and I'll take a short course of Lansoprazole. I don't want to be on PPis for ever. They have too many side effects. I've bought an IQORO which is a neuromuscular device supposed to strengthen the oeasophageal and diaphragm muscles. It is NICE recognised but not approved so I thought I would try it. God! the things we try. My medicine cupboard is now a drawer!
