One week on and I'm feeling surprisingly good. The operation went to plan as far as I know and I'm left with a neat scar some three inches long without a dressing which does make me slightly resemble Frankenstein's monster. Two nerves were cut but I still have far more movement in my arm than I had anticipated and my lower lip has a mind of it's own but then that really only brings it in line with the rest of me. Feeling very positive.
Nice one, all sounds positive....we are left with some impressive wounds/scars aren't we! This was me...
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
It's pretty much invisible nowadays sadly, I do have a pretty impressive one on my chest where they took a "pectoralis major" major flap eighteen months back but I'd have to whip off my shirt to show that one off
